Using H1 Headings in Storbie
H1 headings are important for both accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO), as they clearly define the main topic of your page. Storbie uses the page title as the H1 heading.
Here's how to add an H1 heading:
Step 1: Navigate to the Page
In the Storbie editor, navigate to the specific page where you want to add the H1 heading.
Step 2: Access Page Details
Hover over the "This Page" button in the editor. From the dropdown menu, select "Edit Details".
Step 3: Edit the Page Title
A pop-up window will appear. Select the option "The page title is different from the menu name". In the provided field, enter the text you want to use for your H1 heading. This should be the main title or topic of your page. Make sure it accurately reflects the content.
You can also adjust how the title is aligned on the page by selecting one of the options from the dropdown
Step 4: Finish Editing Details
Click the "Finish" button to save the changes to your page title.
Step 5: Add the Page Title Element
Now, on the page itself (where you want the heading to appear visually), hover over the plus item (+) to add a new content item. From the list of available content items, select "Page Title". This will insert the page title (which you just edited) onto your page, formatted as an H1 heading.
You can modify the appearance of the title by:
i. selecting the triangle button on the title
ii. Selecting the content item width from the first dropdown
ii. Selecting the background colour from the second dropdown
Step 6: Publish Your Changes
Finally, click the "Publish" button to save and make your changes live on your website.
Important Considerations:
- One H1 per Page: It's best practice to only have one H1 heading per page. This clearly defines the main topic for search engines and screen readers.
- Descriptive and Concise: Your H1 heading should be descriptive and concise, accurately reflecting the page's content while also being easy to understand.
- Keywords (Use Sparingly): While it's okay to include relevant keywords in your H1 heading, avoid keyword stuffing. Focus on clarity and readability.
- Visual Appearance: The visual appearance of your H1 heading can be styled using your Storbie theme's design settings.
By following these steps, you can effectively add H1 headings to your Storbie pages, improving both the accessibility and search engine visibility of your website.
