The Google Search Console provides a number of tools and reports to help you optimise how well your website ranks in Google searches. There is a site verification process you need to go through to access these tools.
Before verifying your shop your website needs to be live and you need to have connected your domain name.
- Go to the Google Site Verification page and click on the Verify Your Property button.
- Sign In or create an account.
- There are two methods you can use to verify your shop with Google.
Domain - To use this method you will need to contact your domain registrar or IT administrator to complete the remaining steps.
URL Prefix - Choose this verification method to complete verification yourself by following the steps below.
- Select URL Prefix and type your domain name into the field provided, starting with https://www. e.g. https://www.example.com
- Click Continue.
- You will be presented with a list of verification methods. Important: Choose the HTML tag verification method.
- Copy the meta tag presented, as you will need this later.
- Open a new browser window or tab, log into your Storbie site and navigate to the Site Verifications page in the Settings section of your shop.
- Click Add a Site Verification
- Paste the meta tag that Google supplied into the box provided.
- Click Next, then Finish
- Publish your changes to apply this change to your live shop.
- Return to the Google Site Verification browser window and click the Verify button. Google will check your Storbie shop and complete the verification.
