Adjusting Shipping Costs by Unit (e.g., Weight) in Storbie

Storbie allows you to adjust shipping costs based on units, such as weight, to ensure accurate shipping calculations for multi-packs or items with varying weights. This article explains how to configure this feature.

Step 1: Head to the Manage View

Log in to your Storbie account and navigate to the "Manage" view.

Step 2: Select the Products Tab

From the left-hand menu in the "Manage" view, select the "Products" tab.

Step 3: Identify the Product

Locate and identify the specific product you wish to modify.

Step 4: Edit Product Price & Shipping

Click on the "$" symbol next to the product you wish to edit. This will open the "Edit Price & Shipping" settings for that product.

Step 5: Select the "Shipping Charges" Tab

Within the product editing interface, select the "Shipping Charges" tab.

Step 6: Enter the Multiplier

Under the "Shipping Units" section, enter your desired multiplier. This number will multiply the per-item shipping cost for this product.

Example:

Let's say you're selling a five-pack of socks. Instead of charging the shipping cost of one pair of socks, you want to charge the equivalent of five pairs. In the multiplier field, you would enter 5.00. This will multiply the standard shipping cost by five, ensuring the customer pays the correct amount for shipping five pairs of socks.

How it Works:

Storbie takes your base shipping cost (defined elsewhere in your shipping settings) and multiplies it by the value you enter in the "Shipping Units" field. This allows you to easily adjust shipping costs for items sold in multiples or with varying weights without having to create separate shipping rules for each variation.

Step 7: Finish and Publish

Click "Finish" to save the changes to the product. Then, publish the changes to your website to make the updated shipping costs live.

Important Considerations:

  • Decimal Values: You can use decimal values for more precise adjustments. For example, if an item weighs 1.5 times the standard shipping weight, you could enter 1.50.

  • Shipping Settings: This multiplier only affects the per-item shipping cost. Your overall shipping settings (e.g., flat rate, weight-based shipping) still apply. The multiplier simply adjusts the cost per unit before those rules are applied.

  •

By using the "Shipping Units" multiplier, you can simplify your shipping setup and ensure accurate shipping costs for all your products.
